Beloit Turner School District offers a Comprehensive School Counseling program for all students in grades PK-12. The school counseling program provides the opportunity for all students to attain knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development. School Counselors promote and support equity and access to rigorous educational experiences for all students, a safe learning environment, and culturally relevant prevention and intervention programs.
School counselors provide a variety of services to meet the needs of each student. Some of these services include:
- Teach universal lessons
- Provide individual counseling
- Facilitate small group counseling
- Assist students with establishing personal goals and developing future plans
- Provide prevention and intervention activities
- Assist with restorative justice measures
- Track academic growth by monitoring behavior and attendance
- Communicate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members, provide referrals to community organizations for additional assistance
